I don't know how the laminate process will effect the overall consistency of the guitar over time but hey, the 335's have held up pretty darn well.Īll of that said, are the "Core" guitars worth the $$'s? ABSOLUTELY, no question in my mind. a.) No electronics switch for Magnetics vs Piezo vs blend, b.) no locking tuners, c.) solid carved top vs laminate, d.) different pickups. They are, in my mind somewhat nuanced but different never the less. There are definitely differences between the Core HB II and SE. I am very impressed at what PRS has accomplished at this price point. The guitar as delivered is, to use the original term, stellar. I found that person and he got an amazing deal.ģ.) I am learning the HB II SE Piezo and after my first full day of playing, there are a couple of thoughts for mods swimming through my brain. I sold my original HB II because I was in a chapter in my life that I was not playing and I really wanted the instrument in the hands of someone who would use it. My thought on that is that these are amazing, beautifully crafted, instruments and instruments are meant to make music. ![]() Both were players with the HB II being my number 1. My 2nd PRS was an original core Hollowbody II in Tri-Color burst and a 10-Top. The factory 2 years later made the same wiring mod to the production SAS'. My first PRS was an original Swamp Ash Special that I had modified. Thought I might jump in with a few thoughts on this thread.ġ.) I just (today) picked up a Hollowbody II SE Piezo - Did a great deal of research and decided to pull the trigger as it fit in the budget.Ģ.)
